THE DE ROSA FOUNDATION SELLS OUT AT
THEIR 2nd ANNUAL CHARITY RIDE FUNDRAISER
MANHATTAN BEACH, CA
Manhasset, NY – Colon cancer prevention and promoting awareness were the main themes at the 2nd annual Charity Ride Fundraiser at Soul-Cycle in Woodbury, New York on March 12th, 2016, hosted by The De Rosa Foundation for Colon Cancer Research and Prevention. We were pleased that the studio of Manhattan Beach, California joined forces with the New York studio to simultaneously host a charity ride! The goal was to create awareness on the importance of knowing the symptoms and facts of colon cancer. Charity rides raised approximately $17,000 from ticket sales, donations and sponsorships!
In honor of March being Colon Cancer Awareness month, the De Rosa Foundation was inspired to host the ride in loving memory of:
Paul De Rosa
Patricia E. Newman
The event was generously underwritten by the Peter & Jeri Dejana Family Foundation, for which we are extremely grateful and thank for their continued support.
All proceeds donated to the De Rosa Foundation benefit:
NORTHWELL UNIVERSITY FELLOWSHIP
in Colon & Rectal Surgery under the direction of
JOHN A. PROCACCINO MD, FACS, FASCRS
MEMORIAL SLOAN KETTERING CANCER CENTER
Hereditary Colorectal Cancer Family Registry under the direction of
JOSE G. GUILLEM MD, MPH, FACS
The studio was buzzing with excitement and positive energy! A sold out crowd of over 75 people came to support the event. Joining us were multiple colon cancer survivors, whom we assisted through patient outreach support provided by The De Rosa Foundation. We were grateful and thank God they were present.
Guests were treated to refreshments, snacks, fantastic gift bags and door prizes. Sofia Mantekas, a dear friend and longtime supporter of The De Rosa Foundation, donated fabulous gift bags to each participant. Donna Bruno of db Rejuvenation in Roslyn, NY, donated a generous gift certificate for facial and cosmetic treatments. Michael Weber of Links of London generously contributed lovely silver necklaces and bracelets. Committee member, Rachael Caton, donated great colon cancer awareness bracelets for all guests who attended. A special thank you to Elegant Affairs of Glen Cove, NY and The Vitamin Shoppe of Manhasset, NY for donating delicious and nutritious snacks for all.
Soul-cycle instructor and newly engaged, Mark Forkos, motivated the minds and bodies of the De Rosa Foundation supporters and riders. Forkos energized the entire room and inspired everyone to find their “Inner Soul”. The event was sold out and all proclaimed that it was as informative as it was exhilarating and physically challenging.
The De Rosa foundation wishes to express its sincere appreciation to their underwriter, sponsors, guests, volunteers, committee members and supporters for making this Charity ride a huge success. Through continued support, The De Rosa foundation is able to continue its mission: raising colon cancer awareness and promoting colon cancer research and education. Together we can make a difference!
